HE is one of the wealthiest men in pop with a net worth of £260million.
But Ed Sheeran will be playing the exact opposite as a drug-addled down-and-out when he stars in Adam Deacon’s upcoming film Sumotherhood.
I’ve learned the superstar’s top secret role is as a homeless man struggling with a drug addiction in the action-comedy, which he shot in East London last year.
The film also features Denise van Outen, Jennifer Saunders, Jaime Winstone, Peter Serafinowicz and Leomie Anderson, but it will be Ed’s transformation which is the most remarkable.
A movie insider said: “Ed plays this bloke who’s not got a home and looks like a crack addict.
“It was filmed a while ago, but work on the movie is almost complete and the hope is it will be out this year.

“The casting makes it an intriguing one and in particular, everyone wants to see Ed. He doesn’t have a massive part in the film and although fans will recognise him straight away, they’ve never seen him looking like this.”
Ed will be hoping this role goes down better than some of his others.
He was trolled after making a cameo in Game Of Thrones and was mocked for his acting in 2019 rom-com Yesterday.
Ed is so busy that he will be easily distracted even if the reviews aren’t glowing. He is on tour across Australia at the moment and he has been hinting that his next album, Subtract, is just around the corner.

This week he has sent notebooks to selected fans with certain dates circled, which suggest the record could come out in May.
It’s been just over a year since he dropped last album, Equals.
But given the success of that one, and his current tour, there’s still plenty of hunger for new music from Ed.
Anne's net pics 'n' thrill
ANNE HATHAWAY appeared to be fishing for compliments when she wore this see-through net dress.
She left little to the imagination in the striking Valentino outfit at the premiere of her new film She Came To Me, which was held at Berlin Film Festival on Thursday evening.
Speaking at the VIP event, Anne opened up about facing criticism during her career, admitting she’s worked hard to tune out hatred.
Anne, who has sons Jonathan and Jack with her actor husband Adam Shulman, said: “As the mother of young children – which means someone who has spent the last six years around young children – I am of the firm belief that we are born experiencing love.
“And then we form, in a culture of misplaced hate, unhealed hurt, and the toxicity that is the byproduct of both.”
Dua's song leak anger
DUA LIPA has been left scrambling for answers after suffering a series of high-profile leaks.
I can reveal that the Levitating singer and her team are concerned that tracks from her upcoming third album could be compromised after a song she worked on with Pharrell Williams appeared online this week.
While the track was an offcut from her record-breaking Future Nostalgia album, label chiefs are stumped as to how the song, along with several others in recent weeks, found its way into the public domain.
A source said: “Over the past month or so countless demos and rejected songs from Dua have been appearing online.
“It’s annoying as they didn’t make the album for a reason but obviously the main concern is to know if information about her third album is next.
“The stakes couldn’t be higher for the record after Future Nostalgia turned her into one of the biggest stars on the planet, so bosses are determined to plug the leak, and quickly. Future Nostalgia leaked a few days before it came out in 2020 and Dua was devastated. She has made it clear it must not happen again.”
Little is known about Dua’s upcoming record but she previously shared that she had a full vision for the album all lined up. She said: “It’s starting to feel good. It’s starting to take shape.
“I’m very excited about some of the new songs so it’s always exciting to look forward towards something. It has a vision. It has a name – for now.”
Style is the Pitts
I’M starting to think Brad Pitt raided a charity shop in the dark for all of his outfits before shooting new film Wolves.
He has been wearing all sorts of strange combos while working on the film in New York in recent weeks, and this green beanie, yellow trousers and red bag is up there with the worst of them.
It might be time to find a new stylist, Brad.
Justin’s back to show off his Skrills
THEY scored a megahit with Diplo on Where Are U Now in 2015 and now Justin Bieber and Skrillex are hoping to repeat history.
Once again the Canadian superstar has teamed up with the dubstep DJ – above with their collaborator pal Diplo – for a track on the latter’s upcoming album Don’t Get Too Close.
It will be the first music from Justin since he cancelled his Justice World Tour last year for the sake of his mental health.
He has been lying low since then but behind the scenes he has been working on new music.
A source said: “Justin may have been out of the spotlight but he’s constantly been in the studio.
“He has been friends with Skrillex for years so it just made sense to mess about and see what they came up with.”
Justin’s last album Justice peaked at No2 in the UK in 2021 but it sounds like the follow-up isn’t far away.
Skrillex hasn’t announced a release date for his album yet, although it shouldn’t be long before it’s out.
And with that on the way, I’m convinced we will have new music from Justin this year.
Jo & Flo a runway hit
FLORENCE PUGH really made a name for herself as an actress in 2022 and this year, she is coming for the fashion world.
She flashed a thigh in this skirt after walking in Harris Reed’s show at London’s Tate Modern on Thursday.
She posed with actress Jodie Turner-Smith and recited a spoken word piece at the event. Florence said: “Whether for an actor or simply a performer on the stage of life, the art of dressing up allows us to express who we truly are.”
She certainly did that in this outfit.
Liam's bubbly
LIAM PAYNE looked stylish at a London Fashion Week launch party.
The Strip That Down singer revealed he has cut out booze and is instead sticking to soft drinks.
Liam, who has been vocal about his struggles with alcohol in the past, said on Instagram: “Couldn’t be happier at the moment. Finally feels things are coming together… hard to choose what to drink sometimes – but Coke Zero seems to be doing the trick right now.”
Liam shared a clip on social media of himself dancing to One Direction song What Makes You Beautiful at the party. You don’t need a drink to enjoy that one.
Glasto gig’s a Blondie moment
BLONDIE have accidentally been confirmed for this year’s Glastonbury Festival, as drummer Clem Burke let slip the huge booking.
The group, who previously played the event in 1999 and 2014, will return to Worthy Farm in June.
Speaking on Foxy Radio, Clem said: “We’re also doing Isle of Wight Festival and some other festivals… I guess the full list of artists to be playing Glastonbury hasn’t really been announced yet.
“But we are going to be playing Glastonbury, so maybe you’ve got an exclusive there.”
It’s a great booking for Glasto, given the group, fronted by Debbie Harry, have so many incredible hits including Heart Of Glass, Maria, Hanging On The Telephone, Call Me and Atomic.
Last month, Guns un’ Roses’ Duff McKagan also leaked their booking for the festival.

The full line-up is expected to be announced next month, but so far Sir Elton John is the only act to be formally confirmed.
At this rate, I’ll expect a few more leaks before I get the official line-up from the horse’s mouth.
